My name

Because I love telling my story, I thought I would post it on my blog:

I had been making a sad repetitive joke to my hairdresser, every time she would start to cut my hair I would say “Oh I am going to grow my hair longer.” The first time it was funny the rest it was just sad and repetitive.

I got to a point where I needed to be out, so when I sat down in her chair I said to her “this time I am growing my hair longer because I am coming out as trans.” She looked at me and when she realized I was not joking she asked me “So what am I to call you now?” I told her “I have a few names, but I am leaning towards Randy.” She quickly said “umm uhh yeah no, you are no Randy!” So I chuckled and asked “Ok, who am I?” “Umm uhh, what are you looking for in your name?” She asked so I replied “It needs to start with an R, because changing my signature will be to hard.” Looking back I think that is so funny, that would have been nothing compared to pretty much everything else. So she went “umm uhh yeah no, umm uhh yeah no, umm uhh yeah no, umm uhh uhh yeah Reann, you are Reann!” I looked in the mirror and said “yes, yes I am!”

So moral of my story is come out to your hairdresser and let them tell you, no that is not the moral of my story. It took me several years to get to that point where I could be at a point where a name fit me. In Gaylic Reann means forest nymph so I got that going for me.

Doing some research on my name the Urban Dictionary defines Reann as: Pure awesomeness. The kind of girl that everyone wants to be friends with. Hilarious, kind, sweet, brilliant, and beautiful (I promise I did not put that there). It is a variant of the welsh name for “Great Queen,” or so says thebump.com.

Because this researching my name is starting to make me feel really good I am going to include what sevenreflections.com says about my name:

In Arabic it means “Gate way to heaven!” So that is awesome.
